Council is also committed to helping the community save water through working with different groups on special water wise programs, and providing information on how every household, business and community group can make a difference.

Council has developed various plans and strategies to ensure everyone stays focussed on saving water and improving water quality in local waterways. These plans and strategies include City of Yarra Water Action Plan, Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) Guidelines and Water Management Actions Plans.

The City of Yarra is also a member of the Water Campaign™ managed by ICLEI, and has developed a Water Action Plan to guide programs aimed at reducing water consumption and improving water quality. The Water Campaign™ is an international freshwater management program that aims to build the capacity of local government to reduce water consumption and improve local water quality.
