Council, with the support of the State Government is implementing various water conservation measures to a range of facilities across the municipality. These measures are designed to save more than 700 kilolitres of water per year.

These water saving measures will be implemented over the next 12 months, commencing with Kevin Bartlett Reserve.
Once the works are completed interpretive signage will appear at each facility, explaining the water saving measures that have been implemented.
When all eight facilities are completed, Council plans to develop a “water walk” with a complimentary map and information. Residents and local school groups will be able to guide themselves between facilities and learn about real water saving measures, while enjoying some light exercise, the environment and Yarra’s open space.

The Yarra City Council Water Conservation Showcase Project has been assisted by funding from the Victorian Government through the Department of Sustainability and Environment as part of the Stormwater and Urban Water Conservation Fund."
As part of the Our Water Our Future Action plan, the State Government is providing $10 million to boost stormwater urban water initiatives across Victoria. Stormwater harvesting and urban water conservation are core elements of the Government's plan to secure Victoria's water future for the next 50 years.
