Thomas Kidney Reserve is part of the parkland that makes up the Inner Circle Railway Linear Park.
Upgrades
In September 2010, Council completed improvements to the shared path in Thomas Kidney Reserve.
The $150,000 upgrade replaced the existing asphalt path between Park and Holden Streets with a three metre wide concrete path which meets with a new section of the Merri Creek Trail.
Lighting has also been installed to enable the path to be used year round.
The lighting is on a timer system, which will ensure the path is only lit during the evening and early morning (not overnight), depending on seasonal changes.
These works are part of the larger Merri Creek Pipe Bridge project, funded by Yarra and Darebin Councils, Melbourne Water and the Department of Transport.
The project's aim is to provide the local community and cyclists with an accessible link across the Merri Creek.
