The Aged Services Branch oversees Home Care, Food Services and Social Support Units. Responsibilities include the delivery of meals on wheels, providing home care / maintenance services and organising social events.
This branch aims to enrich, inform, resource and support the Yarra community and promote participation which fosters a healthy, diverse, inclusive and sustainable community. The Community Planning and Advocacy Branch is responsible for developing and delivering policies and programs in a range of areas including Aboriginal partnerships, consultation and community engagement, community safety, community grants, housing and homelessness, neighbourhood houses, multicultural affairs and friendship relationships with the people of East Timor.
The Cultural and Library Services Branch manages the Yarra Libraries, Civic Facilities and Arts and Cultural Services units. The aim of the branch is to promote and celebrate community participation in the City of Yarra. Yarra Libraries was established as a Council unit in April 2007 and consists of five branches; Carlton, Collingwood, Fitzroy, North Fitzroy and Richmond. It offers a range of collections in a variety of languages and other services including story times, author talks, homework clubs, internet access, meeting rooms and a home library service. The Civic Facilities unit manages the public spaces for functions and events within the three town halls and community access to a range of halls and facilities. The Arts and Cultural Services Unit is responsible for the implementation of the Arts and Cultural Plan 2005-2009 and works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to provide arts and cultural programs for the diverse Yarra community.
The Leisure Facilities Branch manages Richmond Recreation Centre, Collingwood Leisure Centre, Fitzroy Pool and Burnley Golf Course. Yarra Leisure provides a high quality range of facilities and programs that encourage participation from a broad cross section of the community. We aim to meet our residents’ health, leisure, sporting and social needs, with a particular emphasis on meeting the needs of people who are: older, socially-isolated, on low incomes, are from non-English speaking backgrounds or who have a disability.
