Incorporation Information

What is Incorporation?

When you incorporate your association or community group you are creating a separate legal entity rather than a group of individuals.

What are the benefits of Incorporation?

What responsibilities do I have if I Incorporate?

How do I Incorporate?

To become incorporated your organisation must have at least five members and be a not-for-profit.

You will also need to agree on the proposed name of the incorporated organisation along with a written statement of purposes and a set of rules. Information on how to select a name, and a model set of rules along with application forms and fact sheets are available on the Consumer Affairs Victoria website.
