What is the Community Grants Program?

The Community Grants Program provides financial and in-kind support to not for profit community groups for initiatives that address local needs, build local capacity and improve the wellbeing of Yarra residents. Funds are not available for private businesses.

Who can apply for a Community Grant?

Applicants need to be an incorporated organisation. If you are not incorporated, you will need to find an auspice (sponsor) for your project that is incorporated.

Individuals can apply through the individual Arts Development Sponsorship. TO be eligible applicants must reside in and/or maintain a practice within the City of Yarra.

How can I apply for a Community Grant?

Application forms  will be available from 19 June 2009 by contacting Access Yarra on 9205 5555 or info@yarracity.vic.gov.au or by visiting www.yarracity.vic.gov.au/community        

How much money can I apply for?

Grants can range from $200 to $15,000 depending on which funding area you apply to. Please read the funding Guidelines and any of the Fact Sheets that are relevant to your project.

What If I need assistance to complete my application form?

Please contact the Community Planner – Grants on 9205 5555 if you require assistance with completing your application form. There are two community information sessions where interpreters will be available, and you can request additional assistance.

How do I write a good application?

Before writing your application it is important to ask 7 key questions:

What is the project going to do?
Why is it needed?
How is it going to work?
Where is it going to take place?
When will it happen?
How much is it going to cost?

Does it fit with the priorities outlined in the program guidelines and fact sheets?
The answers to these questions will help you complete the application form. It is also important to contact the Council Officer listed in the Guidelines to discuss your projects before submitting your application.
