Cr Roberto Colanzi

Cr Roberto Colanzi was first elected to Council as a representative of Nicholls Ward - which takes in North Carlton, North Fitzroy, Princes Hill, and parts of Fitzroy, Clifton Hill and Collingwood) - on 27 October 2012.

Cr Colanzi has lived in Fitzroy since 2003 and before that, spent 18 months living in Princes Hill.

“In that time I have come to understand the key issues and concerns affecting the residents of Nicholls Ward, and Yarra as a whole,” Cr Colanzi said.

As a board member of a support organisation for people who have lost limbs, Cr Colanzi also has a strong interest in improving disability support services and progressing the implementation of the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

Cr Colanzi’s other priorities include making the new North Fitzroy Community Hub an active and significant community resource, creating more local childcare and play care facilities, improving services for older and retired residents, promoting environmentally sustainable architecture, improving residents’ experiences of travelling by bike, car and public transport and working with small and medium business.

“I will bring a range of skills and experiences to support an effective and efficient Council. These include industry, economic and marketing analysis, finance and strategic systems analysis, project management and planning, and a range of research methods,” he said.

“I will strive to work collaboratively and professionally with my fellow councillors and to always work for the best interests of the city and its residents.”

Cr Colanzi is a member of Council's Business Advisory Group, Disability Advisory Committee, Active Ageing Advisory Committee, North Fitzroy Community Hub Community Design Reference Group, Yarra Sustainability Awards Panel and the Yarra Energy Foundation.

He represents Council at the Municipal Association of Victoria.
