Disability Advisory Committee

man in scooter crossing road (Michael Merrett, Disability Advisory Committee)The Disability Advisory Committee provides advice and support to Council on how it can improve the wellbeing of people with disabilities and their carers.

The committee’s membership includes people with a disability, carers or family members of people with a disability, and other people able to represent the views of Yarra residents living with a disability. Yarra Mayor Cr Jackie Fristacky chairs the committee's meetings.

In 2014, the committee will meet monthly at the Collingwood Library (11 Stanton Street, Abbotsford) from 4pm-6pm. The dates for the meetings are as follows:

  • Tuesday  11 February - this meeting will be held at the Willowview Centre (6 Eddy Court, next to the Collingwood Town Hall) due to library being closed for maintenance.
  • Tuesday  11 March
  • Tuesday  15 April
  • Tuesday  13 May
  • Tuesday  10 June
  • Tuesday  15 July
  • Tuesday  12 August
  • Tuesday  9 September
  • Tuesday  14 October
  • Tuesday  18  November

The committee provides advice and support to Council on several matters including:

  • The integration of  disability access and inclusion principles and best practice into the core activities of Council, and
  • Council’s advocacy role to promote access and inclusion at the broader level.
