Towed and Abandoned Vehicles

Vehicles are only removed once they have received an infringement notice for parking in a clearway tow away zone, or if the vehicle is considered unregistered or abandoned.

Clearway tow away zones are allocated throughout the City of Yarra for safety and access reasons. It is important that they be kept clear at all times.

Vehicles in a tow away zone are taken to:

Hours of Operation are:
7am - 9pm (Monday-Friday)
8am - 1pm (Saturday)

Release fees are now $306.00 and the infringement is $117.

The release fee for abandoned vehicles is also now $306.00

These vehicles can be collected within seven days. Vehicles will be returned to the owner on proof of identification, e.g. Drivers Licence and once payment of the towing fee has been made.

After 7 days these vehicles will be treated as unregistered and abandoned.

Cost
A towing fee of $295 is payable directly to Nationwide Towing if the vehicle is collected within 24 hours. If the vehicle is collected after 48 hours a daily rate of $12.90 (inc GST) will be charged as a storage fee. Please note that a 2.5% surcharge applies to credit card payments. In addition you will be required to pay $113 parking infringement notice to The City of Yarra.

Abandoned Vehicles
If you believe there is an abandoned vehicle in your street you can contact Parking Services on 9205 5255 to arrange to have the vehicle inspected.

In most circumstances vehicles thought to be unregistered or abandoned receive a warning notice prior to being removed however if there is a risk to public safety the vehicle may be removed immediately.

Unregistered or abandoned vehicles not collected within 30 days may be disposed of by Council.

A.A. Recycling
1904 Hume Hwy
Campbellfield.

Costs
If your vehicle is taken to A.A. Recycling, you will be required to pay a fee of $295 fee (including GST). Payments are accepted in cash or money order paid to A A. Recycling upon release of the vehicle, proof of ownership will be required.
