Your At-Call Green Waste Collection Service
Council now offers residents a personalised collection service for garden waste such as branches, prunings and grass clippings.
To have your green waste collected:
- Phone Council’s Access Yarra Unit on 9205 5555 to make a booking.
- Access Yarra staff will provide you with a pick-up date and ask questions about the contents and volume of your green waste.
- Access Yarra staff will also talk to you about the best location to place your green waste.
- The night before the pick-up date, neatly place your green waste items in the agreed location, ready for collection.
The service provides residents with unlimited green waste collections per year.
All branches must be tied together with string or twine only, NOT wire or plastic, in bundles no longer than 1.8m (6ft) in length and 30cm (1ft) in diameter.
Lawn clippings or small prunings must be placed in a rigid container such as a cardboard box, which can be lifted easily by one person.

- Branches tied together with string or twine
- Lawn clippings or small prunings in container e.g. a rigid cardboard box
Items that are NOT green waste
- No plastic bags
- No roots and soil
- No weeds, ivy or blackberry plants
- No wire, metal or plastic
- No hard waste
