
Applicants must contact Council's Valuations Co-ordinator who will discuss the procedure for purchasing right of ways. The circumstances of each application varies and as such there are no set procedures. However, Council must follow the general processes set out in the Local Government Act.
Applications involve a rigorous consultation process within Council departments; various User Authorities, Utilities, and more importantly all effected parties and adjoining owners. Generally an application can take up to 3 to 8 months to complete.
Applicants must pay all legal costs together with the market value of the land.
