Rates – Additional Information

Property Ownership

If you buy or sell a property, you must advise Council within 28 days by filling in and returning the following forms:

If you bought a property, fill in the Notice of Acquisition pdf
If you sold a property, fill in the Notice of Disposition pdf

Change of Address

If you change address, you must notify Council’s Revenue Services Unit in writing on the change of address for receiving rate notices form. Change of address for receiving rate notices pdf

Pensioner Rebates

Holders of a Pensioner Concession Card, or a Gold Card issued by the Department of Veteran Affairs to
War Widows or Totally/Permanently Incapacitated Veterans are eligible for a $100 Council rebate on their rates for their principal place of residence.  This rebate is additional to the State Government Pensioner rebate of $184.30.  For more details, please contact Council’s Revenue Services Unit on 9205 5406.

Financial Hardship

If you’re experiencing difficulty paying your rates, please call Council’s Revenue Services Unit on 9205 5406 as soon as possible to discuss an alternative payment arrangement.

Payment of Rates and Charges

When making a payment for Council rates and charges, the payment will be allocated to your account in the following way:

Penalty Interest

Penalty interest on any arrears of rates and charges will continue to accrue until full payment of the outstanding amount and the interest accrued to the date of payment is received.

Disposal of Property for Overdue Rates and Charges

Land Information - Apply for a certificate

If you require a  Land Information Certificate, please fill in the land information certificate application form Application Form and choose one of the following processing methods.
For supply of certificate within 24 hours:

a.  Fax your application and a copy of cheque for $47 payable to City of Yarra:

Cost is $47.00 and can be made between 8.30am and 5pm at:
