Guidelines established by the State Government provide the eligibility criteria for Home and Community Care (HACC) services provided by Council.
In summary, the following people are eligible for HACC services:
- older people and younger people with a disability
- carers of older people and younger people with a disability.
You must live in the City of Yarra to receive Yarra’s HACC services.
Services are provided on the basis of eligibility as well as assessed and prioritised need.
This means that in some instances you may not automatically receive services, although you may be in one of the above categories and meet the eligibility criteria.
Council has a Priority of Access Policy, which ensures that people most in need of assistance will receive it. Some people have higher and more complex needs and may be assessed as a higher priority for services.
