Carers of Disabled Children - Support for carers

Yarra Council’s Aged and Disability Service has a Respite Service for carers of family members with disabilities to enable parents/caregivers the opportunity to participate in family, social and community activities.

To receive the service an assessment would be undertaken by an assessment officer. The services provided may include:

To access Council’s Respite Service you will need to be assessed as eligible by an assessment officer from the Aged and Disability Services Team.

When the referral is accepted we will contact you to arrange a visit by one of Council’s assessment officers to discuss your needs and the services available.

If your situation is urgent, we can organise services very quickly. If not, there may be a wait of several weeks before services start.

A low fee will be charged and this will be discussed with you at the time of assessment.
