Head Lice - How to treat them

Head lice lotion is available from:
North Richmond Community Health Centre,
23 Lennox Street, Richmond 9429 5477 Mon-Fri 9am-4.30pm.
North Yarra Community Health Centre, 365 Hoddle Street Collingwood 9419 6155 Mon-Friday 9am-6pm Sat-Sun 9am-12pm
North Yarra Community Health Centre, 75 Brunswick Street Fitzroy 9419 5266, Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri 9am-6pm. Wed 11am-6pm. Sat 9am-12pm.

Note: Head lice lotion will only be issued to adults.

  • Treat all family members if one member of the family has head lice, whether or not nits or lice are present.
  • Carefully read and follow the manufacturer's advice on using their product.
  • Wear rubber gloves when applying head lice treatments.
  • Consult your doctor or pharmacist about safe head lice treatments to use if you are pregnant, or have sensitive skin, or for children less than 12 months of age.
  • KEEP Head lice treatments OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN as the treatments are toxic, but safe if used according to the manufacturers' instructions.
  • Prevent head lice treatment from getting into the eyes.
  • Avoid using a hairdryer following application of the treatment as heat may de-activate the product.
