
The City of Yarra's Family Support Service aims to assist and support families to develop, maintain and strengthen their independence.
The program provides case management and support to families with children 0 - 18 years. It also assists families who work or are studying in the City of Yarra. Priority is given to those families living in the municipality.
The Family Support Service is made up of a team of qualified and multi-skilled professionals, who provide an appropriate support service to families and children living in the City of Yarra. Staff have the ability to speak a variety of languages including Vietnamese, Cantonese, Mandarin and Chinese dialects. Other interpreters are available.
Home Based Support
Family Support staff will work with families in their home or place/s that suit the family. We can assist in practical ways and discuss difficulties that may confront the family.
Case Planning
Family Support staff will work with families to develop goals and strategies to achieve outcomes and provide appropriate links to agencies in the local community.
Group Work
Based on identified needs a range of groups can be conducted by the Family Support team. The Family Support Unit provides group work, if needs are identified in the community. Where appropriate the Family Support staff will link families to existing parenting programs.
