March 2007
The lease for the Fairfield Park Boathouse is due to expire on 31 May 2008.
Council wishes to undertake an Expression of Interest (EOI) process to select a suitable candidate to enter into a new lease, commencing 1 June 2008.
Well before the EOI process begins, Council wants to proactively consult the local community and visitors to the area on the services and facilities available at Fairfield Park Boathouse, including the café, restaurant, boat hire, parking, conference room and the adjacent amphitheatre.
Council is also seeking to obtain feedback on the synergy that may exist with surrounding parks and facilities such as the playground on Heidelberg Road, Yarra Bend Park and the Yarra Bend Golf Course.
Council has developed a short survey and would like to encourage anyone interested in the services and facilities at the Fairfield Park Boathouse and surrounding areas to participate in this consultation process.
Results of this community consultation process will feed into Council’s documentation, forming part of the Expression of Interest and Tender process, to ensure prospective tenderers understand and address community and customer expectations.
The Mayor of Yarra City Council, Cr Jenny Farrar, said the Fairfield Park Boathouse was an important community asset.
“I want to encourage the community and visitors to Yarra to particulate in this consultation process and provide us with feedback on the services and facilities available at the Fairfield Park Boathouse and the surrounding area,” she said.
Fairfield Park has been reserved by the State Government as a Public Park and Recreation Reserve. The City of Yarra manages this park on behalf of the State Government.
To complete a survey contact Council on 9205 5712 or visit www.yarracity.vic.gov.au.
Council staff will also be on site at the Fairfield Park Boathouse throughout March and April surveying visitors and park users.
