Yarra City Council is joining forces with the State Government to hold a seminar for local businesses on how to “recession-proof your business”.
The seminar- organised by Council and the Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development - will be held at the Richmond Town Hall on Monday 23 March, from 6-8pm.
Mayor Cr Amanda Stone said Council was keen to provide extra support to ensure Yarra’s 8000-plus businesses are well equipped to survive these tough times.
“Yarra has one of the largest local economies in metropolitan Melbourne, with more than 70,000 Victorians employed in businesses across our municipality,” Cr Stone said.
“We want to do whatever we can to help our local businesses get through this trying time, and maintain each precious job.”
Cr Stone said the free seminar would include presentations from Director of Chocolatier Australia John Grisold (whose business has survived previous economic downturns), and from representatives of the Victorian Employers’ Chamber of Commerce on its “Grow Me The Money” program and its Small Business Mentoring Service.
A Commonwealth Bank representative will speak about the current global economic outlook, while there will also be a presentation from SED Consulting, which provides strategic planning advice to businesses.
Yarra Council and State Government officers will also provide information about training and development opportunities, networking events, and other business-related services that are available.
RSVPs are essential and should be made to Council’s Economic Development Unit on 9205 5555 or at business@yarracity.vic.gov.au
