Structure Plans, Urban Design Frameworks and Local Area Plans

There are various planning tools that can be used to manage change and future development in Yarra. Council uses these tools, Structure Plans, Urban Design Frameworks (UDF) and Local Area Plans, to set a framework for what kind of design and development is permitted for specific areas.

These frameworks are significant pieces of work and involve several rounds of community consultation. Once adopted by Council, they are submitted to the Department of Planning and Community Development for approval before being formally integrated into the Yarra Planning Scheme.
