
On 15 May 2007, Council noted a three stage heritage work plan for the City of Yarra. This work plan identified work required to further protect and enhance the heritage assets of the municipality.
As part of Stage One of this work plan, the City Of Yarra is currently tendering for a heritage consultant to investigate the places considered to be of heritage value in Richmond and Alphington and to make recommendations with regard to whether additional heritage controls should be introduced in the Yarra Planning Scheme.

In 2009 Council will initiate a Planning Scheme Amendment for the properties identified by the heritage consultant as being worthy of heritage protection, this will involve exhibition of the documentation to all affected land owners and occupiers.
