Open Space Contributions Policy – Amendment C87
The Yarra Planning Scheme was amended on 12 June 2008, to include a new policy which requires developers to pay a standard 4.5% open space contribution on new residential development to improve the quality and quantity of open space for all residents in the City.
The contribution, which is in Council’s Open Space Strategy 2006, will apply to all residential subdivisions, including the residential component of a mix-use development.
The Amendment also includes a policy that provides guidance for when Council will seek land as the open space contribution rather than the monetary contribution.
The new policy includes:
- Revisions to Clause 21.05-5;
- A new Open Space Contributions Policy at Clause 22.12; and
- A schedule to Clause 52.01
