The Yarra Planning Scheme is the set of local planning regulations developed in consultation with the community to ensure that the unique characteristics of the municipality are preserved while catering for an increase in population. Council’s Strategic Planning department is responsible for updating the Planning Scheme.
The Yarra Planning Scheme is available online on the Victorian Department of Planning and Community Development website. The Yarra Planning Scheme consists of maps, which show you how a particular piece of land is zoned and whether it is affected by an overlay, and an ordinance (written document) containing policies and requirements for the use, development and protection of land in the municipality.
