Adjoining property owners and occupiers are often faced with building or planning issues as a result of a building development that is either being constructed or is at the planning stage.
This is a matter pertaining to Statutory Planning. Please refer any enquiries you may have relating to this notification to the Statutory Planning Branch at the Richmond Town Hall or by telephoning 9205 5373.
A building permit is required for the majority of building work, with some exceptions for minor work.
You can phone Yarra Building Services on 9205 5095 to check whether the proposed work will require a building permit.
In some cases, proposed building works may physically impact on adjoining buildings. In such cases the process of protection of an adjoining property maybe initiated, i.e.. Forms 3 and 4 Protection Works Notice. If you have received Forms 3 and 4 Protection Works Notice you are advised to contact a Building Surveyor if you have any questions about the Notice.
Call Yarra Building Services on 9205 5095 who will advise you on the impact the building work will have on your property and your choice of future action.
(Building permits can also be issued by private Building Surveyors)
There is no fee for advice on how you could be affected by your neighbour's building works.
