221 Kerr Street, Fitzroy
An objection to Council's decision to grant a permit for a proposed eight-storey residential development at 221 Kerr Street, Fitzroy has been settled via mediation at the Victorian Civil Administrative Tribunal (VCAT).
Council issued a Notice of Decsion in January 2013 that it would permit the proposal from PhilKerr Property Pty Ltd and BillKerr Property Pty Ltd that would involve retaining the existing two-storey red brick facade and constructing six additional levels.
Both the applicant and objectors appealed against the decision and a mediation session was held on 17 July 2013 where the matter was resolved.
In its current form, the proposal is for the part demolition and construction of alterations and additions, resulting in an 8 storey building, with a reduction in the car parking requirements associated with dwellings (no planning permit required for dwelling use).
Amendments to the original plans included the following changes:
- a reduced building height in the south-west corner of the site (adjacent to the Kerr and Gore Street intersection)
- a reduced number of dwellings (from 72 to 64)
- a roof top garden at level 5 (adjacent to the Kerr and Gore Street intersection).
More detailed information on the current proposal, including the original plans, is available in the documents below.
