Brunswick St and St Georges Road Corridor Working Group
Brunswick Street and St Georges Road in Fitzroy are among the busiest roads in Yarra. Shopping, dining and entertainment draw visitors to the area day and night. It is also a popular commuter route, creating competing demand for the road space between cyclists, motorists, pedestrians and public transport users.
In 2014 and 2015, Council established three working groups that looked a improving Brunswick Street and St Georges Road for all users, with the aim of making the route safer and more functional for residents, businesses and visitors.
The groups looked at long-term improvements to coincide with Council’s planned road resurfacing on Brunswick Street (between Alexandra Parade and Victoria Parade) and tram stop upgrade works to be undertaken by Yarra Trams in the next few years.
Further information about the groups appears below and can also be found in Terms of Reference below.
