LATMS 17 Richmond
Yarra Council is conducting a Local Area Traffic Management Study (LATMS) in the Richmond precinct in the area bounded by Bridge Road, Church Street, Swan Street and Punt Road.
For the purposes of this study the area is referred to as LATMS 17.
The LATMS process aims to address traffic issues in local streets, including traffic speed and volume, through-traffic, traffic safety at intersections and pedestrian safety.
The study involves the community in identifying issues and developing solutions and considers the impact of traffic management on an area-wide basis.
To assist with the study, Council has engaged Traffix Group Pty Ltd, a specialist traffic engineering and transport planning consultancy.
Development of Traffic Management Plan
In February 2013, Council distributed a survey to seek feedback from the community about traffic issues in the area.
Feedback was due by 21 March 2013. The results of the survey will be used to develop a draft Traffic Management Plan that will propose specific solutions to traffic issues in the area.
The draft plan will be circulated to all properties in the study area for comment in mid-2013.
Community feedback about the draft Traffic Management Plan will be reviewed before considered for adoption by Council.
Traffic Study Group
The Traffic Study Group comprises community representatives, ward councillors, Council officers and consultants from Traffix Group.
The role of community representatives will be to represent residents and businesses in the study area, act as a contact for the local community, and assist in the development of a Traffic Management Plan for the area that reflects the desires, expectations and requirements of the local community.
It is expected that the Traffic Study Group will meet on three occasions on a weekday evening, with the first meeting to be held in April 2013 on a date to be advised.
Approximately 10–12 representatives will be selected from a number of different streets to ensure the entire local area is well represented.
In conjunction with this LATM study, Council will undertake a separate analysis of parking to investigate current parking conditions and availability.
Please note, only parking issues that relate specifically to traffic safety will be dealt with as part of this LATM study.
