LATMS 10 - Gold Precinct
In late 2014, Council undertook a Local Area Traffic Management Study (LATMS) in the area bounded by Alexandra Parade, Hoddle Street, Johnston Street and Smith Street in Collingwood.
The area is referred to LATMS 10, Gold Precinct.
The study aimed to address traffic issues in local streets, including traffic speed and volume, through-traffic, safety at intersections and pedestrian safety.
At its meeting on 3 March 2015, Council adopted a Traffic Management Plan for the area that addressed traffic issues raised by residents.
A copy of the plan appears below and includes implementing road humps, traffic islands, street trees, additional signage, speed limit and bicycle ‘sharrow’ linemarking, and pedestrian crossings.
LATMS 10 Endorsed Traffic Management Plan (732.43 KB)
The plan was developed as part of an extensive consultation process with the community, which included a series of surveys and a public meeting.
A Traffic Study Group comprising community representatives, ward councillors, Council officers and consultants from Traffix Group (an external consultancy Council engaged to assist with the process) was also established to help develop the plan.
The plan is expected to cost $590,000 to implement over three years.
