Stepping Out in Yarra
1 Oct 2011 Edition
The Stepping Out in Yarra event is back for a second year, giving residents aged over 50 the chance to join together in walking or running along the Yarra Boulevard.
Participants can choose a pace and distance to suit their level of fitness, with the event featuring a 4km or 8km course, both of which start and finish at Burnley’s Kevin Bartlett Reserve.
Local resident Lindsay Sutherland will be participating again this year, after braving the wet weather at last year’s inaugural event. “The event is suited to people who have a whole range of abilities,” Lindsay said.
Registration costs $20 ($15 con.) which includes a race bib, show bag, BBQ breakfast and a donation to the Heart Foundation. Souvenir t-shirts are also available for purchase.
The event will be held on Sunday 30 October at Kevin Bartlett Reserve, Yarra Boulevard, Burnley (Melway ref. 45 A12), from 9am.
Register online or pick up a registration form at your local Yarra Leisure centre. Forms can also be mailed out to you if you contact Yarra Leisure on 9205 5032.
