Peter Garrett says 'It's got a sustainability tip for every day of the year; everyone should get a look at this.'
Gabrielle Stannus, Community Sustainability Officer, City of Melbourne, will be on hand to answer your questions on reducing energy, water and waste in your home. Gabrielle will also discuss how you can be further involved in community environment programs in 2007, including the Sustainability Street program.
Copies of the diary will be available for sale on the day and to be won as door prizes!
Triple R radio presenter and author Tony Wilson will read from his new children's book The Thirsty Flowers. Written in the tradition of Banjo Patterson and Dr Seuss, it is a hilarious tale of horticultural survival in a time of drought. Tony will talk about making a picture book and the characters in the story. Following the session there will be craft activities set up for children to do.
Signed copies of Tony's books will be available for purchase and to be won as door prizes!
Available for a small fee and provided by Cultural Catering
Diana Cotter from Sustainable Gardening Australia will provide you with a lowdown on maintaining your worms - in a worm farm that is! Worm farms provide a great alternative to larger-scale composting for people with small backyards or balcony gardens. Learn how to recycle your organic scraps from your kitchen to feed your garden, while reducing the waste you send to landfill.
One lucky person will win a worm farm!
