Home library service
Yarra Libraries offers free delivery of library material to people living in the City of Yarra who are unable to visit their local library. We also visit nursing homes and other institutions. Client visits are scheduled on a set day every four weeks.
The Home Library Service provides a full range of library services, including answers to requests for information, and delivery of specifically requested titles in a variety of formats including:
- fiction and non-fiction books
- large print books
- talking books in either cassete or CD format
- magazines
- music CD's
- materials in languages other than English
- reading aids.
Staff will talk to you about what your interests are and what sort of material you want, including any specific titles you may wish to borrow.
Who is eligible for the service?
You are able to receive the service if you cannot physically visit the library yourself because of illness, frailty or disability, and have no one in your household to visit the library for you. You are also eligible if you are temporarily housebound. You must have a genuine need for the service. You may be referred by a Health Care professional. Alternatively, we are happy to visit you to make an assessment. If you receive Meals on Wheels and/or Home Help, you are likely to be eligible for the service.
