
Bond
When hiring Open Space within the City of Yarra, a mandatory bond fee must be paid. The amount of the bond is dependent on the activity that is going to be performed within the park.
Inspections
Council staff will make post event inspections and any cleaning cost will be the responsibility of the hirer. Deposit fees will be refunded subject to satisfactory inspections. If an area is damaged within the gardens, re- seeding of the effected area will be charged to the hirer.
Rotundas
Rotundas within parks must be booked. This can be done by contacting Councils Facilities Liaison Officer on 9205 5729.
BBQs
Please note that BBQ's within parks and gardens can not be hired for exclusive use. BBQ's are free for use and are cleaned by Council's contractors.
Marquees
Marquees can be erected with Parks and Gardens however there are regulations that apply:
1: - All marquee's/ tents must be free standing
2: - No pegs or spikes are to be put in the ground (water containers/ sand bags are permitted)
3: - Tree's are not to be used or damaged while erecting the marquee's/ tents
4: - Prior to erecting a marquee/ tent, you must meet with Council staff on site to determine an appropriate site for the marquee' tent
Rubbish
All rubbish produced by your function must be removed from the area. Council can arrange for extra bins for your function at a cost to the organisers.
Fencing
Permission is not granted for any user of parks or gardens to erect temporary fencing or to rope of an area. If tickets are to be sold for a function within the gardens alternate ways of collecting money and policing the event must be employed.
Noise restrictions
Any noise generated by your function must comply with the relevant Environmental Protection Act Guidelines N-1 Public Address Systems. As a general rule, noise from a function should not exceed 65 Db at any perimeter of the venue being used.
Toilets
Public toilets within parks and gardens are cleaned daily by Councils contractors. Please note that these facilities are for public use and not included in your hire of the gardens. For large events, porter-loos may be required.
Liquor Licensing
It is the users responsibility to obtain an appropriate Liquor Licence if liquor is being sold at the function. If liquor is going to be sold a copy of your liquor licence is to be forwarded to the Council at least two weeks prior to the function.
Animals
Please note that some parks have "off leash" areas where pets are allowed to roam freely. Please consult the signage within the parks where necessary.
Vehicles
No vehicles are to be driven within parks and gardens. If vehicles are required for a function, you must consult Council for permission.
Time Restrictions
Time restrictions for the hire of parks/ gardens apply. Parks are available for hire between 8:00am and 10:00pm.
