Personal Trainers Permit

Personal training in Yarra’s parks and gardens is growing in popularity. Training sessions can involve one client or large groups of people and can also incorporate a range of fitness equipment.

While our parks and gardens are an available resource to the local community, it is important that personal training activities do not impose on other people using the park or cause damage to the park.

To balance the needs of fitness trainers and other park users, Council will trial a new permit system for personal trainers who use local parks for commercial benefit. From 7 September 2009, fitness trainers must apply to Council for a permit (issued free of charge during the trial period) before using Yarra’s parks for training activities.

Local schools and local sporting clubs do not require a permit.

The trial will be reviewed in February 2010.
