Council investigates street tree problems if a resident raises concerns about safety, structural damage to property or the tree is thought to be causing health problems.
A request for a tree investigation should be made in writing. The request needs to state the nature of the problem. If the tree is thought to be causing health problems, a certificate from a specialist medical practitioner (eg. respiratory, allergy) must accompany your letter.
You may also submit a request for a tree investigation with Access Yarra at Richmond and Collingwood town halls.
On receipt of the written request by the Open Space Planning Unit, an acknowledgment letter will be sent and an inspection will be done.
The Council officer carrying out the tree assessment will consider the condition, suitability and significance of the tree and make a recommendation.
The resident will be advised, in writing, of the outcome of the investigation and any action to be carried out.
