Yarra City Council looks after 120 parks and gardens including some of Melbourne’s best known open space areas such as Edinburgh Gardens, Darling Gardens, Barkley Gardens, Burnley Park, Linear Park and Mayor’s Park.

Yarra's waterways, inner city location, diverse social mix and heritage character all contribute to a unique landscape. Council seeks to respond to this landscape through the establishment of a quality open space system that meets the recreational and environmental needs of the local community and enhances cultural, social and ecological values.
