Through regular exercise and a well balanced diet we can stay stronger and healthier from the inside to the outside.
The majority of people can reduce the risk of having high blood cholesterol by following a number of guidelines:
As we age both men and women lose calcium from the skeleton. Osteoporosis is the condition where there has been an exaggeration in the normal loss of bone mass. This leads to disabilities as the body's supporting structure is weakened.
Along with a calcium rich diet, weight-bearing exercises such as lifting weights can help strengthen the bodies support structures and reduce the effects of osteoporosis.
Non insulin diabetes or type 2 diabetes usually occurs in adults over 40 years of age and is therefore known as adult-onset diabetes. Adult on-set diabetes occurs when the pancreas either does not make enough insulin or the insulin cannot work effectively. This may happen when a person is overweight and the excess fat blocks the insulin from transporting the glucose from the blood stream into the body tissues. In a person with adult on-set diabetes where excess weight has caused the diabetes to develop, loss of weight may help to improve the condition.
By doing exercises such as walking, aqua aerobics, swimming and golf you can control your weight, in conjunction with a well balanced diet. You should aim at a minimum of 3 sessions per week for a half an hour or more.
