The Fairfield Boathouse is open again, following a $1 million-plus revamp.
The boathouse had been closed for redevelopment since May.
The upgrade was funded by Willow Grange Pty Ltd, which was last year granted a 21-year lease of the boathouse by Council.
Accessibility to the boathouse was improved, with the previously staggered outdoor levels combined into one large decked area extending from the boathouse to the river. The boathouse surrounds have been extensively landscaped.
While the 1908 boathouse building was preserved, the kitchen, outdoor bar and grill areas were replaced and the original caretaker’s quarters converted into an additional function space.
The boathouse’s celebrated history will be honoured as part of the redevelopment, with a free public display of photos,
memorabilia and relics to feature in the boathouse building.
For bookings, please contact the boathouse directly on 9486 1501 or 0405 315 900.
