Yarra Sustainability Awards - 2012

2012 YSA logoThe Yarra Sustainability Awards return in 2012 to celebrate the community’s efforts towards environmental sustainability.

 Please note, entries into the 2012 awards closed on 1 May.

2012 Yarra Sustainability Awards categories

Design and Development - recognising environmentally sustainable design and development in the built environment

Business - recognising commercial and social enterprises that have minimised negative environmental impacts and maximised positive contributions to Yarra’s environment and community 

Community Action - recognising groups and organisations that have made a significant contribution to sustainability

Home and Garden - recognising individuals, households and families who have made significant progress in the sustainability of their home and/or garden. 

Educational Services - recognising educational organisations, including children’s centres and kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, tertiary institution, training organisations and other educational organisations that have made a significant contribution to sustainability. 

Local Heroes (new category) - recognising the achievements of an individual who has contributed significantly to sustainability.

Every nominee and nominator that has submitted an entry goes in the draw to win a range of great prizes: 

  • A voucher to the value of $500.00 from Hudson’s Famous Catering, one of the winners in the 2011 Yarra Sustainable Awards (Business category). Visit the Hudson's Famous Catering website.
  • Full 3 month membership with Yarra Leisure valued at $364.20. The membership includes full access to Burnley Golf Course and Yarra's Leisure Centres (gym, swim/spa/sauna, group fitness classes, personalised programs and ongoing reassessments and a locker)

  • A Home and Skincare gift pack valued at $150 from ecostore.
  • Lunch for four at the Commons Café (at the South Melbourne Commons community hub) to the value of $100 by Original Foods Sustainable Catering, highly commended in the 2010 Yarra Sustainable Awards (Business category).   • Your choice of a worm farm or compost bin from Council (valued at $68.50 and $41.50 respectively)
  • 10 Adult Swim Pass valued at $44.80 – can be used at any of Yarra Leisure's swimming pools and valid for six month.

Winners will be announced at a ceremony on 16 August at Richmond Town Hall.
