Yarra Sustainability Awards

Glenda Lindsay and the Luscious Lane Garden

The Yarra Sustainability Awards celebrates the Yarra community’s collective efforts towards environmental sustainability.

The awards recognise innovation, community achievement and sustainability leadership across 6 categories:

  • Business
  • Building Design and Development
  • The Frank Fisher Award
  • Educational Services
  • Community Action
  • Local Hero

The community can also vote for their favourite initiative in the People’s Choice award.

The awards are usually held in early June, to coincide with World Environment Day by celebrating innovative community achievement right here in Yarra.

Yarra Sustainability Awards in 2017 will not be running.

The Yarra Sustainability Awards will not be running in 2017.

We are planning to run a new form of community sustainability engagement this year. Stay tuned to our website and Facebook page to find out more or sign-up to the Yarra Environment e-news to receive updates on this and many more sustainability initiatives happening across Yarra.

As the 2016 Sustainable City of the Year, Yarra will also be hosting the Keep Victoria Beautiful Awards in September 2017. We’d love to see Yarra groups being recognised, as they have been in previous years. There are a number of categories that community organisations, not for profits and schools can enter free of charge, and the ceremony will be free and open to the public. Nominations are open now and will close on Saturday 20 May. For more information and to apply visit Keep Victoria Beautiful Sustainable Cities.

The Yarra Sustainability Awards are expected to run again in 2018.
