Environment Strategy
In October 2008 Yarra City Council adopted its Environment Strategy, which sets the direction for environmental initiatives in the municipality for the following four years.
“Every sector in society will need to modify its behaviour to reduce its environmental footprint and increase its resourcefulness in order to move towards environmental sustainability. And we will need to adapt together.”
(Yarra Environment Strategy 2008-2020)
Community consultation held throughout 2007 informed the development of the strategy, and led to a collective vision being defined for the City of Yarra: “A vibrant, liveable and sustainable inner city that the community can be proud of.”
2012 Council targets
2012 community targets
