Energy saver program
Yarra Council, the City of Melbourne and energy partners have launched a scheme that aims to take the confusion – and some of the cost – away from going green at home.
Energy saver - it all starts at home
“Energy saver- it all starts at home” offers renters and home-owners free and low-cost improvements to the energy performance of households.
Council is working with installation companies to help residents access all of the subsidies that are on offer from the State and Federal governments.
Energy Saver – It All Starts at Home provides residents in Yarra and Melbourne with:
- free energy assessments
- free products and installation of energy saving technology such as light globes and showerheads
- reduced cost technologies such as solar hot water and draft proofing.
How to register
To register for the program, contact one of the providers below and ask to be part of the residential Energy Saver program.
Ecovantage
For residents who live in North Carlton, Princess Hill, Fitzroy North, Clifton Hill, Fairfield and Alphington.
Ecovantage is a Melbourne-based, Australian-owned environmental consultancy. Under the Energy Saver scheme, Ecovantage will replace incandescent globes and inefficient showerheads in households and can provide rebates for households converting to more efficient hot water and space heating.
Further rebates will become available in coming months as new products are added to the Energy Saver scheme.

The Green Project (Enact)
For residents who live in Abbotsford, south and central Richmond, Cremorne and Burnley.
The Green Project can provide access to a wide variety of energy savings activities either free or at a heavily subsidised cost, completed by an approved and quality assured Green Project installer.

Brotherhood of St Laurence
For residents who live in Fitzroy, Collingwood and North Richmond.
Brotherhood Green is a not-for-profit organisation that has helped thousands of Australians find easy energy savings, just by changing small things around the home and making minor changes in the way they use energy.

City of Melbourne
Residents of the City of Melbourne can contact their council for further information or visit the City of Melbourne website.
Selection of companies
Both Councils have undertaken a competitive process to be able to recommend these companies as suitable providers. However, Yarra Council and the City of Melbourne take no responsibility for the delivery of the services and residents should make their own enquiries with these and other potential companies directly.
