
| The Infrastructure Services Division is responsible for providing strategic direction for the management of Council’s assets as well as delivery of a wide range of services to the community. Assets managed include public swimming pools, libraries, childcare centres, parks and gardens, through to the local network of roads, drains, footpaths, cycling tracks and bridges. Services provided include domestic refuse and recycling collection, street cleaning, environmental management, recreation planning and management of Council’s parks, gardens, reserves and sportsgrounds. Routine maintenance of roads, drains, footpaths and delivery of the capital works programs also form part of the responsibilities of this division. |
The Infrastructure Branch is responsible for providing strategic asset planning, provision of asset related advice and approvals, acquisitions and disposal, building maintenance, property management including leasing of properties owned and/or operated by council, capital works planning and project management of Council owned assets. Assets include roads, footpaths, kerb and channel, underground drains, property, buildings, furniture and equipment. The Branch provides strategic advice and implements strategies relating to the long-term maintenance and replacement of assets which are supported by funding policies to ensure that our infrastructure and facilities meet future Council and community needs.
TheEnvironment and Recreation Services Branch is responsible for maintaining the publicly owned open spaces within the City of Yarra, such as parks and gardens. The branch is responsible for implementation of Council’s environment policy and for overseeing Environmental Management, Recreation and Open Space planning. The branch also manages and provides accessible recreational and leisure opportunities, services and facilities and open space.
The branch manages key external contracts including garbage collection. It also coordinates road and drain maintenance throughout the municipality.
The Assets Branch is responsible for providing strategic advice and implementing strategies relating to the long-term maintenance and replacement of assets which are supported by funding policies to ensure that our facilities meet future Council and community needs. Core business responsibilities take in strategic asset planning, acquisitions and disposal, capital works planning and introduction of an asset management system to hold corporate knowledge of our assets.
