The Finance Branch is responsible for the overall control of the City's financial resources in accordance with relevant statutory requirements and policies of Council. The Branch also develops financial strategies that will ensure that Council is a viable organisation, able to continue provision of services into the future. Finance is responsible for the production of the Annual Budget and analysis of Council’s financial resources. The branch manages the valuations of properties as required by the Valuation of Land Act 1960 including the supervision of the revaluation every two years and conducting supplementary valuations following changes to property or buildings. Other services involve calculation, issue and collection of Council rates, the issuing of Land Information Certificates for sale purposes, cash receipting and maintaining the voter's roll, sale of right of ways and the creation and numbering of all properties throughout the municipality.
