This public meeting is to inform our community of the potential implications of the current sale of the Amcor site, to explain the options available to Council and to enable discussion to occur prior to a scheduled meeting of the Council at 8-00 pm to make a decision.
The Amcor site has recently been placed on the market for sale – this is a changed circumstance to that previously advised by Amcor. The company had announced in February 2008 that it would be moving its operations to Sydney in three years and would be developing in the meantime an outline development plan for consideration by the relevant planning authority. The pending sale (with Expressions of Interest being sought by 16 April 2009) creates some risks that the City of Yarra is currently considering.
Here is a link to the officer report to Council on 17 March 09 and attachments 1-7. The matter was adjourned to a meeting on 20 March 2009 where Attachments 8 and 9 were also ‘tabled’, being draft Development Plan Overlay (DPO) versions.
The Council has called a Community Information Session on Thursday 26 March at 6-00 pm and a Council meeting at 8-00 pm that evening to further consider the matter.
