2009 Community Grants Program

The Community Grants Program supports the valuable work undertaken by a diverse range of not-for-profit community groups and individuals by providing financial and in-kind support for initiatives that address local needs, build local capacity and improve the wellbeing of Yarra residents.

Annual Grants Program

The Annual Grants Program provides funding for small to medium sized projects, activities and events that respond to the social, cultural, recreational, environmental and economic needs of Yarra residents. 

Grants funding is provided under the following categories:

a) Arts and Culture
b) Environment
c) Community Development
d) Sport and Recreation
e) Youth Services
f) Community Justice Grants, and
g) Health and Community Care.

Emerging Issues Program

This Program provides financial assistance for two year projects which address emerging issues in the City of Yarra. Grants are available to not-for-profit organisations only. Council has identified priority areas it wants to address through the Emerging Issues Program 2009 & 2010 and details are available in the Emerging Issues Guidelines.

Investing In Community Program

This Program is intended to support more substantial projects over three years that address major strategic priorities of the City of Yarra. The objectives of the Investing In Community Program are aligned with the key strategic objectives of the Council Plan 2007- 2011.

Individual Sports Participation Sponsorship

2008 Community Grants Program

Yarra Council awarded over $650,000 to 159 local community initiatives and projects in the 2008 Community Grants Program that address community needs, strengthen social diversity and build local capacity to enhance the health and wellbeing of residents in the City of Yarra.

The 2008 Community Grants Program provided funding to not-for-profit community organisations and individuals for activities throughout Yarra across two programs: the Annual Grants Program and the Home and Community Care Program.

Acquittal Report

If your group or organisation received Yarra Council funding in the 2006/07 grants round, you are required to submit an
Acquittal Form.rtf| Acquittal Form pdfafter your project is completed. If you have been successful in the 2008 Community Grants Program, Council must have received an acquittal form for all previous grants before any further funding can be paid. If you are unsure about your organisation or group’s acquittal of previous Yarra Council grants, please contact the Community Planner – Grants on 9205 5555.
