Citizenship

To apply to become an Australian citizen, you need to contact the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) on 131 880. Further information and application forms can be obtained from the DIAC Citizenship website.

Yarra City Council conducts citizenship ceremonies on behalf of the department. Once an application for citizenship is approved, DIAC will send you and your family members invitations to the next available citizenship ceremony in the City of Yarra.

The next citizenship ceremony in Yarra is expected to be held in March 2010. Council generally holds five ceremonies per year, one every two months between March-November. A schedule of the 2010 ceremonies will be posted on this page shortly.
