Councillor Stephen Jolly

Councillor Stephen Jolly was elected to represent Langridge Ward in November 2004. He has been a member of both the Finance and Resources and Human Services and Community Development Committees and is a member of the Planning, Environment and Infrastructure Committee.

What do you hope to achieve as a Councillor?

I want to turn Yarra City Council around from being neo-liberal in its approach, by ending cuts to services and instead boosting services. I will campaign with residents to make Yarra a place where families and those on low incomes can afford to live and more easily access services like child care. I want a development plan for Yarra that matches every increase in the number of new homes with an increase in social services.

What are your particular areas of interest?

I am interested in supporting public housing residents and helping young people in the area get jobs on award rates of pay. Council can do a lot more on these issues.
