Councillor Jackie Fristacky

Councillor Jackie Fristacky was first elected to Yarra Council in 2002 to represent the former Nicholson Ward. She was elected to represent Nicholls Ward in November 2004. Cr Fristacky held the office of Chairperson of the Finance and Resources Committee for the 2004/2005 term and is currently a member of the Finance and Human Services Committee. She was elected as Mayor for the 2005/2006 term at the Ceremonial Meeting held 1 December 2005.

What do you hope to achieve as a Councillor?

An indoor sports complex for Yarra, a permanent home for the North Fitzroy Library, improved landscaping of streets including tree planting in St Georges Road, Johnston Street and other shopping precincts, support for the Princes Hill Community Centre, redevelopment of Hardy Gallagher Reserve, Linear Park and Edinburgh Gardens, State Government providing power to Councils to enforce speed and related restrictions on local roads.

What are your particular areas of interest?

Enhancing Council’s relationship with the community through listening and involving the community, integrated transport, improved parking and traffic management, viable retail strips, social equity through access to information by library services, municipal health through sport and physical activity.
