Mayor and Councillors

The City of Yarra is represented by nine Councillors, who were elected in November 2008 to serve the local community for the following four years.

Yarra is divided into three wards – Langridge, Melba and Nicholls – and each ward is represented by three Councillors.

Yarra’s Mayor is elected annually (usually each December) by his/her fellow Councillors.

Cr Jane Garrett was elected unopposed as Yarra’s Mayor on 3 December 2009.

In November 2009, Yarra’s Councillors adopted this Councillors’ Code of Conduct. The code sets out how Councillors will carry out their duties with integrity, and impartially exercise their responsibilities in the interests of the local community.
